Proposal: The proposed development comprises; (1) construction of 86 no. residential units (2) provision of shared communal and private open space and site landscaping; (3) onsite and visitor carparking; (4) vehicular and pedestrian access from R338; and (5) all associated site development works (gross floor space 9,079.3sqm) on site which extends to 4.41ha, on the northern side of the old Dublin Road (R338).
The proposed scheme achieves a good mix and quality development that reinforces the existing urban form, makes effective use of premium, centrally located land and contributes to a sense of place by strengthening the existing street pattern along the R338 and creating new streets within the development. The proposed scheme also includes two central areas of public open space designed to incorporate both formal and informal play areas and a community gathering point.
Galway County Council granted planning permission for the scheme in July 2018.
