MKO is seeking to recruit a Senior Environmental Technician to work within our Environmental team on projects in the wind energy, renewables, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors. A range of experience on similar projects in these sectors is desirable. The successful candidate will have experience in overseeing environmental controls on construction sites. The role will also require oversight and mentoring of the Environmental Clerk of Works team.
MKO carry a range of high-quality monitoring equipment as part of our servicing offering for water, noise and wind monitoring and analysis. Experience deploying, maintaining, and managing equipment such as water turbidity monitors and LiDAR is also desirable. The successful candidate will work within Ireland’s largest environmental and planning consultancy. They will gain knowledge and experience through cross team collaboration with our environmental, ecology, ornithology, and planning teams in particular.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to and oversee a team of Environmental Clerk of Works and projects run by our Environmental Team day-to-day.
- Manage the environmental monitoring equipment as part of the overall environmental service offering in water, noise and wind monitoring and analysis.
- Guide junior team members and sub-consultants to deliver project requirements.
- Take ownership of projects from inception to completion (including project profitability) and provide regular project updates to the Environmental Team seniors.
- Manage and implement business development initiatives for the team.
- Develop new opportunities in the marketplace and prepare fee proposals whilst ensuring a steady workflow.
- Have a good knowledge of construction and project development and environmental responsibilities during the construction phase of projects.
- Have knowledge of environmental law, in particular the EIA Directive and Habitats Directive.
Requirements:
- A third-level qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering, construction management, civil engineering or related fields that give the candidate the necessary skills to complete the role.
- A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience or a broad range of project experience at the construction stage.
- Proven track record of mentoring.
- Knowledge of civil engineering, construction management, ecology, hydrology/hydrogeology, noise, air, traffic, geotechnical and other EIAR subject areas and the interrelationships between them during the construction and operational phases of projects.
- Excellent project management skills and communications skill: both written and verbal
- Excellent IT skills.
- Be well organised with meticulous attention to detail while also being able to manage a varied and full workload. The candidate should thrive in a busy work environment and on delivering to required project deadlines.
