Proposal: The proposed development is for a ten-year permission to develop a solar farm on a site located in the townland of Islandduane, Mungret, Co. Limerick. The proposed solar farm will comprise the construction and operation of solar PV arrays mounted on metal frames on a 12.1 Ha site, inclusive of a single electrical control building, onsite substation, up to 2 no. inverter units, up to 2 no. temporary construction areas with ancillary facilities, boundary fencing with CCTV units, use of existing access, an access track and all associated works (inclusive of gross floor space of proposed works up to 100.4 sqm).
The planning application preparation process required a variety of inputs including a Flood Risk Assessment, a Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment, a Traffic and Transport Assessment, a Glint and Glare Assessment as well as the perpetration of photomontages. Detailed consultation was undertaken with the planning and roads departments of Limerick City & County Council
Limerick City & County Council granted planning permission for the proposed development on the 30th August 2018.
