MKO is currently seeking an enthusiastic Landscape Architect to join our growing Landscape team. Applications are invited from candidates of all levels of experience that satisfy the key requirements of the role.

The successful candidate will be working with our environmental scientists, ecologists, and planners to deliver cutting-edge design solutions and sustainable outcomes for our clients, as well as contributing to Environmental Impact Assessment. The appointed Landscape Architect will be involved in a range of exciting projects, such as linear infrastructure projects (Greenways & Blueways), renewable energy developments and a dynamic range of landscape design projects for housing, open spaces, hospitals, leisure, industrial and commercial developments. In this role, the Landscape Architect will also support MKO’s Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) specialists and in-house graphics team. There will be opportunity to manage and implement business development initiatives for the team and win new work by preparing and overseeing the preparation of fee proposals, identifying opportunities in the marketplace, and ensuring a steady workflow.

Key Requirements

  • A recognised qualification in Landscape Architecture;
  • Excellent graphic skills & knowledge of relevant software including AutoCAD, Adobe Suite software, etc;
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office software;
  • An interest in sustainability and knowledge of Landscape & Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA);
  • Creative design skills;
  • Capacity in assisting in the design and development of landscape schemes;
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely, with excellent vocabulary and grammar;
  • Ability to produce compelling presentations, drawings, reports;
  • Good project management and communication skills;
  • Comfortable interacting with clients and regulatory authorities;
  • A collaborative and flexible approach to the role with ambition to excel and grow within the company.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with QGIS or equivalent GIS software;
  • Membership with the Irish Landscape Institute or Chartered Membership with the Landscape Institute (or recognised international equivalent) – preferred but not essential;
  • Full Irish, EU or UK driving licence;
  • Experience conducting LVIA.

Currently, we are operating remote working for many of our office-based employees and this is expected to evolve into a blended working arrangement when restrictions enable this. What that blend might be will be dependent on discussions with the employee and we are open to that discussion.
