MKO have successfully completed the ecological services required to obtain planning permission for the construction and operation of a 30km section of a national road scheme. MKO were commissioned to complete the EIAR Biodiversity Chapter, AA Screening Report and Natura Impact Statement for the construction of a section of the N5 between Ballaghaderreen and Scramoge in Co. Roscommon. This involved the mapping of ecological constraints and assessment of the emerging preferred route corridor to minimise effects on biodiversity. The commission involved detailed and ongoing liaison with a multi-disciplinary project team to finalise the alignment of the road that was submitted for planning permission. MKO completed all the consultation, desk studies, ecological survey and assessment work necessary to inform the EIAR chapter and Natura Impact Statement and completed all reporting on this basis. MKO also gave evidence at the Oral Hearing that was undertaken in relation to the development. This scheme has now been granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanála.
