MKO Ornithology team has grown to 35 over the last year. In 2022, some of our team were involved in some exciting publications, including “Confirmed Breeding of Common Crane (Grus grus) in Ireland 2019-2021” and “The Red eyed Vireo Vireo Olivaceus in Ireland – a review”. Both featured in Irish birds 44 this year and can be found here 

MKO Ornithology and MKO Research teams were involved in a review of the NPWS Site Specific Conservation Objectives

Other highlights include:

  • All senior and project ornithologists have completed an emerging leaders course designed to inspire the next generation of leaders in the company
  • The team attended a Rescue Emergency Care level 3 (REC3) training course. REC3 is an internationally recognised curriculum designed to introduce a systematic method of applying Emergency Care to those found suddenly unwell or injured outdoors.
  • Our Ornithology team marked the start of the 2022 winter season with an action-packed training day in Portumna Forest Park.
