MKO secured planning permission for the largest wind farm in Co. Clare, a 29-turbine development located around Slievecallan in the west of the county.
The project consisted of a 29-turbine wind farm, including electricity substation and all ancillary site roads, infrastructure and grid connections. Post-planning consents that also fell within MKO’s responsibility included Road Opening Licenses and Section 5 Declarations.
MKO successfully coordinated the EIS and the extensive project team that contributed to it. We also acted as planning consultants in all pre-planning discussions with Clare County Council, and lead project managers with responsibility for coordinating the work of all specialist sub-consultants, including hydrogeologists, archaeologists, geotechnical engineers, traffic consultants.
During the construction phase, MKO provided on-site support in the form of Environmental Clerk of Works, which included a regular reporting function for the project developers.
