Barr an Uisce, Ballybane More Road, Galway

MKO provided a comprehensive project management service from project inception through handover and beyond for the Barr An Uisce housing development. MKO secured planning permission for a Strategic Housing Development (SHD) at Ballybane More Road. The project consists of 101 residential units, offering a mix of 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom options and developing a creche. Phase 1 of the project is currently in the process of being completed, with the remaining Phase 2 ongoing.

Project challenges

The project presented unique challenges due to a constrained site, with significant level changes and geological constraints. The project required the management of multiple stakeholders’ inputs. It was funded using Respond’s forward funding model to deliver a high-quality end product that aligns with Respond Housing Associate’s goals and fosters establishing and maintaining a vibrant community.

The residential units comprised a mix of 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom units, built to high standards and achieving a minimum energy rating of A2. Additionally, the project includes shared communal and private open spaces, site landscaping, and an onsite playground. The development also featured electric vehicle charging points and bike stands to encourage sustainable travel among residents.
