MKO successfully led the project team through a complex consenting process for the solar farm extension, battery energy storage system, and associated 110kV substation and grid connection. The project required careful consideration of environmental and technical constraints, including its proximity to the M6 motorway, which necessitated detailed glint and glare assessment. Key aspects addressed included archaeology and cultural heritage, landscape and visual impact, ecology and Appropriate Assessment, as well as traffic and transport considerations. A comprehensive suite of environmental assessments was undertaken to ensure potential impacts were fully identified and mitigated. Targeted mitigation measures were incorporated into the design to minimise environmental effects. The project represents a well-balanced approach to renewable energy expansion while safeguarding the surrounding environment and infrastructure.
