On Friday 2nd December, Gus McCarthy and 38 local business leaders slept out on Shop Street as part COPE Galway sleepout. Over €177k has been raised from this year’s event.
COPE Galway will use the vital funds the Business Leaders’ Sleep Out raised to develop and increase resources to support families and individuals who remain in unsuitable accommodation for extended periods. This will range from continuing to expand and develop community-supported housing, increased tenancy support and preventative work for men, women, and families, so they avoid homelessness. In 2021 COPE Galway supported 1,316 people experiencing homelessness, including 322 children.
