Volunteering

At MKO, we believe in the importance of giving back. Our team has previously volunteered with Cope Galway and their Helping Hands project for several years. Annually, we support Galway’s Giving Tree and are actively getting involved with beach clean-ups across the country. Gus McCarthy (Director) has previously participated in the Cope Galway Business Leader’s Sleepout.

Knowledge Sharing

MKO has a culture of knowledge sharing and offers a vast amount of training to everyone, whether someone is starting their career or further developing it. Every team member is willing to share their knowledge within the company. A knowledge-sharing update is held monthly, where team members provide updates on their area of expertise.

A tradition at MKO is our company-wide Monday Morning Meeting. It welcomes and introduces new team members and updates everyone about current projects, relevant news and recent industry updates. Afterwards, everyone catches up in the canteen.

Sports and Social

Our active sports and social committee host events throughout the year which unite everyone at MKO from the four corners of Ireland. From our annual Christmas party and Summer BBQ to golf, soccer, go-karting, bowling, paint club, attending the Galway Races, and so much more, there is something for everyone. We have an active running club and tag rugby team. MKO support Connacht Rugby, and our people enjoy season tickets to matches throughout the championship. Our annual guided archaeological landscape island trips are immensely popular and have taken us to every corner of the Irish coast over recent years.

MKO is committed to supporting our people through our Stay Well initiative, which includes 24/7/365 access to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and a comprehensive wellbeing platform for our teams.
