Susan completed her primary degree in Zoology (moderatorship in Natural Science) at Trinity College Dublin in 2013, her master’s degree in Ecological Assessment at University College Cork in 2014 and her PhD (ornithology) at University College Dublin in 2020. Susan’s interests include ecology and zoology with a focus on biodiversity conservation. She has been involved in a variety of research projects, including population dynamics of arctic-breeding birds, conservation of threatened seabirds, waders and raptors in Ireland, speciation of passerine birds in Sulawesi, zoonotic diseases of birds and mammals in Ireland and studies of ground-nesting bird declines in Europe. Susan works part-time in the MKO Research and Ornithology teams at MKO.
