Nature Restoration
With the development of Ireland’s Nature Restoration Plan in response to the EU Nature Restoration Regulation (EU 2024/1991), efforts will focus on reversing environmental degradation, protecting biodiversity, and enhancing ecosystems.
Priority actions for Ireland include rewetting drained peatlands, reforesting native woodlands, and restoring rivers. These actions deliver substantial co-benefits by improving water quality, capturing carbon, and enhancing natural flood buffers. MKO has extensive experience in providing ecological and environmental services for nature restoration projects. Our multi-disciplinary teams provide a full range of restoration services from design and permitting to implementation oversight and monitoring.

Derryclare Wild Western Peatland Project
Coillte commissioned MKO to prepare an EIAR to accompany a planning application for the restoration of approx. 343 hectares of coniferous forestry plantation in the townlands of Derryclare and Cloonnacartan in Galway.
