Acoustics
All projects generate noise emissions. Some are barely audible beyond a few metres, while others can be heard at several hundred metres.
Our dedicated Acoustics team assesses noise emissions from quarries, industrial installations, renewable energy projects and waste management facilities. If it makes noise, the team can assess it. We carry out assessments early in the development process to inform the design team, and at the environmental impact assessment stage as part of the planning application process. Once a development becomes operational, we undertake surveys to meet relevant limits.

ACOUSTICS Key Services
Comprehensive acoustics services for effective project outcomes.
Impact assessment
We assess noise impacts for industrial, commercial, residential and renewable energy projects, for inclusion in Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and planning reports.
Noise Management Plans (NMP)
Noise Management Plans (NMPs) are increasingly sought by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for licensed facilities. MKO prepares and reviews NMPs for several such facilities.
Compliance surveys
We carry out compliance monitoring programmes to ISO1996 and other relevant standards at a wide variety of facilities, as required by EPA licences and planning conditions.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) licensing
Most Industrial Emissions Licensing (IED), Integrated Pollution Prevention Control (IPPC) and waste licence applications require an assessment of noise emissions, and most issued licences require regular compliance monitoring.
Planning applications
A local authority may request that a noise assessment be undertaken, either before submission or through a request for further information. Our Acoustics team is highly experienced in this area.
